Uruguay Inflation Rate Nears 1-1/2-Year High of 8.4%
The annual inflation rate in Uruguay rose to 8.40 percent in November 2019, its highest level since July last year, from 8.34 percent in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (13.20 percent vs 10.63 percent in October); transport (7.11 percent vs 6.83 percent); restaurants & hotels (9.34 percent vs 8.65 percent); recreation & culture (8.42 percent vs 7.97 percent) and furnishings (7.47 percent vs 7.10 percent). Meanwhile, cost slowed mostly for housing (3.99 percent vs 6.08 percent); health (4.52 percent vs 10.66 percent) and clothing & footwear (1.81 percent vs 2.02 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.42 percent, easing from a 0.75 percent rise in the preceding month.

The annual inflation rate in Uruguay increased to 8.34 percent in October 2019 from 7.78 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since July last year, as prices rose further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (10.63 percent vs 8.75 percent in September); transport (6.83 percent vs 6.68 percent); health (10.66 percent vs 10.44 percent); restaurants & hotels (8.65 percent vs 8.56 percent); recreation & culture (7.97 percent vs 7.77 percent); furnishings & household equipment (7.1 percent vs 6.85 percent); clothing & footwear (2.02 percent vs 1.39 percent); communications (5.9 percent vs 5.83 percent) and education (9.03 percent vs 8.97 percent). Meanwhile, cost of housing eased (6.08 percent vs 6.32 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.75 percent, after a 0.52 percent gain in September.

Annual inflation rate in Uruguay rose to 7.78 percent in September of 2019 from 7.76 percent in the prior month. It was the highest inflation rate since April, as prices increased faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (8.75 percent vs 8.03 percent in August) and health (10.44 percent vs 10.27 percent). On the other hand, inflation slowed for restaurants & hotels (8.56 percent vs 8.66 percent), recreation & culture (7.77 percent vs 8.52 percent), housing (6.32 percent vs 6.62 percent), and transport (6.68 percent vs 6.90 percent).On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.52 percent, following a 0.88 percent rise in August.

Annual inflation rate in Uruguay rose to 7.76 percent in August of 2019 from 7.54 percent in the prior month. It was the highest inflation rate since April, as prices increased faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (8.03 percent vs 7.21 percent in July); housing (6.62 percent vs 6.46 percent); transport (6.90 percent vs 6.36 percent) and health (10.27 percent vs 10.20 percent). On the other hand, cost slowed for restaurants & hotels (8.66 percent vs 8.87 percent) and recreation & culture (8.52 percent vs 8.94 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.88 percent, following a 0.76 percent rise in July.

Uruguay Inflation Climbs to 7.54% YoY
The inflation rate in Uruguay climbed to 7.54 percent year-on-year in July 2019 from 7.36 percent in the previous month. Prices rose further for food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.21 percent vs 6.30 percent in June), accommodation (8.87 percent vs 8.32 percent), and health care (10.20 percent vs 9.02 percent). In contrast, prices rose at a softer pace for housing (6.46 percent vs 6.60 percent); transport (6.36 percent vs 7.90 percent); restaurants and recreation & culture (8.94 percent vs 9.11 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.76 percent (vs 0.64 percent in June).

Uruguay Inflation Rate Eases Further in June
The inflation rate in Uruguay fell to 7.36 percent year-on-year in May 2019 from 7.73 percent in the previous month, as prices rose at a softer pace for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (6.30 percent vs 7.08 percent); housing (6.60 percent vs 6.76 percent); transport (7.90 percent vs 9.25 percent); restaurants and accommodation (8.32 percent vs 8.28 percent); and recreation and culture (9.11 percent vs 9.30 percent). Meanwhile, inflation accelerated for health care (9.02 percent vs 8.92 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (9.99 percent vs 9.58 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.64 percent in June.
